The Fox 36 Float fork has been a staple of mountain biking for some time now, and this latest incarnation improves on what was already a great 160mm-travel (6.3in) performer.
There"s more than enough adjustment to help get your money"s worth here, including low-speed compression, lever-actuated lockout with a lockout force adjuster, rebound, and air spring pressure. After an extensive chat with suspension fettlers Mojo, we found a decent base setting that produced a stable ride both on the ups and downs, and only ever tweaked the rebound a little when out in the Alps and dealing with bigger, faster hits.
It"s clear the push to reduce friction using the Kashima-coated stanchions and new SKF seals has really paid off – the beginning of the fork"s stroke is far more supple now. We"ve fans of the FIT damper for some time now and it feels better than ever, offering efficiency, stability and support where others can falter.
The smoother stroke means grip and comfort are improved which is certainly apparent over longer, more tiring descents. At speed, there was little that could trip this fork up and it handled the roughest rides ridiculously well time after time, tackling some of the ugliest terrain with control and composure
